  • COVID-19 Precautionary Measures

*As of 12 October 2022, Peru officially revoked all COVID-19 measures such as antigen tests for flights and entry to the country, social distancing, mask-wearing on flights, in shops and public buildings, and associated hygiene measures.
*Peru is now the 2nd most vaccinated and boosted country in Latin America (a bit behind Chile), with about 90% of the population vaccinated vs. the USA with a vaccination rate of about 70% (as of Feb 2023).
*We will continue to follow the requirements of the Peruvian health authorities which could change on short notice if new variants emerge in the future. We will notify all interested parties of any such changes as soon as possible.
*While not currently required by the Peruvian health authorities, we will provide hand sanitizer and face masks for use by visitors to the Tapiche Reserve. We encourage the use of these during travel to and from the Reserve when you will be on a boat or bus with many other travelers of unknown vaccination or COVID-19 status.

In the meantime, we do strongly suggest that only vaccinated and boosted travelers consider international travel, and that they also have health or travel insurance that covers them in case of illness, hospitalization or evacuation during their travels.

Past measures (prior to 12 October 2022) included the following. Please note that these requirements could be reinstated in the future.

* Proof of full vaccination AND a negative COVID-19 antigen test prior to travel to the Tapiche Reserve (we suggest that you bring a self-administered test with you on your travels anyway – knowing that you test negative will enhance your ease of mind, and could also result in saving money.
* Mask wearing compliance (covering both nose and mouth) while in Iquitos and during transport to the reserve
* Guests that present with COVID-19 related symptoms (including but not limited to fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, diarrhea) while at Tapiche will be asked to leave the lodge and cover emergency transportation expenses, approx USD 300.

As conditions and circumstances continue to evolve, we reserve the right to modify our health response measures to protect both our staff and our visitors.

  • Booking

Bookings are confirmed upon receipt of deposit. Once a booking is made, the dates of arrival to and departure from the Reserve are set, and all logistics will be planned accordingly. If a change of plan is initiated by the guest, Tapiche Reserve will try to accommodate but cannot guarantee availability or pricing. Depending on the timing of the change and the availability of alternatives, an additional fee may be assessed. Guests are encouraged to communicate with Tapiche Reserve as early as possible for changes. Tapiche Reserve will not be responsible for losses incurred by changes in flights or other travel arrangements.

Tapiche Reserve reserves the right to refuse booking or service for travelers with medical conditions that may require emergency medical care, as well as those who decline to comply with basic standards of conduct designed for the health and safety of everyone involved in our operations.
