2021 Tapiche Turtle Hero Update

Since launching our 2021 Tapiche Turtle Hero campaign a couple weeks ago, we've gained support to foster hundreds of rescued baby turtles, and we thank everyone who has contributed so far. There are still thousands of rescued baby turtles to care for, and the Turtle Hero campaign will run through January, so it's not too late to foster some baby turtles and become a 2021 Turtle Hero if you haven't already!

To become a 2021 Tapiche Turtle Hero, make your donation on our GoFundMe page or by sending funds to our Paypal tapichejungle@gmail.com, just be sure to mark the "sending money to family and friends" option so that Paypal doesn't take a big bite out of your donation before it gets to us. We’re also happy to accept bank transfer if that’s better for you, just email tapichejungle@gmail.com for our wire info. Make a note on your payment of whose name we should put on the Turtle Hero certificate if you’d like to gift it in someone else’s name!

Donations of USD 15 (enough to foster 5 rescued baby turtles) and up will receive a personalized digital 2021 Tapiche Turtle Hero certificate that you can print and display proudly. Donations of USD 50 or more will receive the certificate as well as a personalized video of thanks filmed right at the Tapiche Reserve. We care for these babies in our custom hand-built turtle nursery at the lodge until they are ready to strike out on their own in the wild, and their care includes daily trips to fetch their food, monitoring against natural predators, and regular cleaning and maintenance of the nursery.

Thanks to everyone for their love and support. We couldn’t do this without you!

Check out the release of the oldest and strongest rescued baby turtles of the 2021 rescue season below. We collected approx 11,000 eggs this turtle rescue season (a new Tapiche record!). Since the turtles nest over a period of several months, we’ll have several thousand baby turtles in our care for a couple of months still. It brings us great joy to see these babies starting their wild lives at the Tapiche Reserve!
